NPOL snow band observations NPOL snow band observations

Snow band echoes were observed with the NASA N-Pol radar connected to the CSU-CHILL antenna on 3 December 2008. Distinctly positive Zdr values were noted in the weak reflectivity areas between the snow bands. These were due to the presence of appreciable numbers of relatively pristine, unaggregated ice crystals.
