Accumulated hailstones Hail collected by Colorado State University Electrical and Computer Engineering REU students Peter Marinescu and Barry Windschitl in Weld County, Colorado on June 6, 2012 as part of their summer research project, validating a hail detection algorithm that uses dual-polarization radar data. Hailstones with diameters up to 2.5 centimeters and of various shapes were collected and recorded throughout the day along Route 14 in Weld Country.
