High Rain Rates

Specific differential propagation phase (Kdp) values of several degrees per km were observed in heavy thunderstorm precipitation over Denver on 3 July 2009. The two panel image shows Zh and the one hour rainfall totals observed by the Denver Urban Drainage and Flood Control District gauge network.
